Helpful Safety Hints

Safety is a vital part of enjoying a healthy and happy retirement.  The following hints will help you to keep you home safe for yourself and your loved ones.

Frying Pan

 

Appliances with automatic shut-off features will reduce accidental burns from kettles, irons, frying pans, etc. that have been forgotten.

Bath Seats allow you to take a shower while seated.  It will reduce the possibility of slipping and falling.

Cordless Phone

 

Cordless Telephones eliminate a cord that can be tripped over.  You can also keep the phone close to where you are.

Phones with Shorter Cords will also reduce the possibility of tripping over the cord.

Rug & Chair

Scatter Rugs need to have a non-slip backing.  Eliminating scatter rugs increases the safety of moving around your apartment or home.

Swivel Rocking Chairs are comfortable chairs once you are seated, but the possibility of having the chair swivel away from you increases the risk of falling.  Reaching from these chairs can cause them to tip as well.

Pencil & Note Paper

Note Paper and a Pen kept close to the phone/s, and your apartment entrance will save a hurried trip to find these when you need to record a message or other information.  Any situation that requires you to hurry, increases the risk of falling.
